Harley-Davidson, a well-known touring motorcycle brand is recalling certain CVO Street Glides built from 10 May 2023 to 6 October 2023 due to potential loss of control when the bike exceeds 100 mph.
The news comes from the trusted bike news website Adventure Rider which reveals the Harley-Davidson’s Part 573 safety Recall Reports to NHTSA.
The report claims that 1,464 CVO Street Glide (FLHXSE) are affected and this number includes the models (FLHXSE) manufactured up to 6 October 2023.
The models after this date received an updated calibration but Harley-Davidson shared two different reports on the same issue to NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration).
According to the report, the motorcycle response may be more than expected to road and environmental inputs. And this condition will come when you exceed the speed of the bike by more than 100 mph.
This issue creates a safety threat to owners if they don’t follow the manufacturer’s guidance. For example, a motorcycle can be crashed if you do not slow down the speed due to loss of control.
The bike will not give the desired performance due to a combination of front-end mass, stiffness and inertia whenever you will overspend.
Harley Davidson is providing the recall kit with the new ECM calibration in which you will get Ballast and Strap (p/n 45800162 & p/n 45800163).
The owners of the affected models should visit the authorized dealers and get a remedy at no cost.
