BMW has revealed the successors of its acclaimed R nineT motorcycle with the names of 2024 BMW R 12 nineT and R 12.

Both models are equipped with 1170 cc Air/Oil-Cooled Boxer Twin engines. The R 12 nine T boasts 109 hp at 7,000 rpm and 85 lb-ft torque, while the R 12 cruiser variant offers 95 hp and 81 lb-ft torque.
BMW made a significant update with the new one-piece trellis steel main frame, replacing the previous two-piece frame for a lighter and cleaner aesthetic. The new airbox is integrated under the seat, and a twin-pipe exhaust system is introduced.
The R 12 nine T features a chrome-plated front muffler and electro-polished rear muffler, while the R 12 has an electro-polished front muffler and a brushed finish rear muffler.
These models will come with cast light-alloy wheels 17-inch for the R 12 nine T and a combination of 19-inch front and 16-inch rear for the R 12.
They feature dual 310 mm discs up front with radially mounted 4-piston monoblock calipers and a single 265 mm disc in the rear with a 2-piston caliper. BMW Motorrad ABS Pro is standard on both models.
The R 12 nineT has a wheelbase of 59.5 inches and a seat height of 31.3 inches, while the R 12 features a slightly longer wheelbase of 59.8 inches and a lower seat height of 29.7 inches.
Both models are equipped with a new 45 mm inverted telescopic fork and a Paralever swingarm for rear suspension, with different suspension travel lengths.
The models are loaded with technology including ride modes (Rain, Road, and Dynamic for R 12 nineT; Roll and Rock for R 12), Dynamic Traction Control, and Engine Drag Torque Control.
They also feature a Keyless Ride function, BMW’s Intelligent Emergency Call, and new instrumentation with options for digital displays.
Furthermore, optional aids include Shift Assistant Pro for clutchless shifting, Hill Start Assist Pro, Connected Ride Control for Bluetooth connectivity, and MotoMount for smartphone mounting.
Both models will be available in Blackstorm Metallic as the standard color, with optional San Remo Green Metallic for the R 12 nine T and Aventurine Red Metallic for the R 12.
Prices have not been announced yet, but the models are expected to arrive in dealerships in the first quarter of 2024.
